Trim whitespace in a CSV
Leading and trailing spaces break joins and duplicate checks. Trimming removes only that padding, and the preview shows the cells that would change.
Drop a CSV here
Comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe. Quotes, commas, and line breaks inside a cell stay intact. The file is read here and is not saved on the server.
Up to 32 MB. Files over 8.0 MB ask before parsing.
What stays
- Spaces between words stay. “Ada Lovelace” does not become “Ada Lovelace”.
- Leading zeros stay. 00120 is not a number to be shortened.
- Line breaks inside a quoted cell stay. Only the ends of the whole cell are trimmed.
Headers are included. A header of “ Name ” becomes “Name”, which also clears a fake duplicate caused by padding. If the preview count is larger than you expect, cancel and inspect the sample before applying. After a trim, exact duplicate removal has a better chance of seeing real copies.
