CleanCSV is a local tool. When you open a CSV, the bytes are read with the File API in this browser tab. Parsing, quality checks, cleanup, and export run on that data in memory. The app does not send the file, the filename, or cell values to a server.

What is not collected

  • No account, and no requirement to sign in.
  • No analytics script, advertising script, or error reporter that receives row text.
  • No server log of your table, because the table never arrives.
  • No copy of the file in local storage or a database.

What this browser may keep

One local storage key, cleancsv.localStats.v1, stores three counts: files opened, cleanup operations applied, and downloads. It does not store names, filenames, or cells. The counts stay on this device until you erase them. Closing the tab does not erase them. Clearing the file inside the cleaner does not erase them either.

Reading local counts…

While you move between pages

The open table stays in memory if you follow a link to another CleanCSV page in the same tab. Use Clear file when you want it gone before you leave the tab. Closing or reloading the tab also drops it. Undo history is part of that memory and is dropped with the file.

Downloads

The cleaned file is built in the tab and handed to the browser as a download. Formula protection, if you turn it on, changes the downloaded text only. The summary in the download dialog lists those cells. That change is not applied silently to the grid.

If a server mode is ever added

This version has no server processing. A later version that accepted files would need a separate, explicit consent step, a size limit, a file-type check, rate limits, automatic deletion, and access control. It would not be the default, and it would not reuse the local cleaner as a hidden upload.
